Fellowship in Neurocritical Care
The Neurocritical Care Fellowship is a two-year clinical training program designed to train board eligible neurologists in neurocritical care. The fellowship program is accredited by UCNS. Fellows are eligible for subspecialty board certification in neurocritical care at the completion of training. Fellows spend time in the neurocritical care units at the UCSF Moffitt hospital (chiefly neurovascular patients) and San Francisco General Hospital neurotrauma ICU. Fellows will also train in the medical surgical critical care units and spend two months in anesthesia training. The UCSF training program is among the most rigorous in the United States. We feel that Neurointensivists should be well trained, competent intensivists who regard the brain as the focus of resuscitation. We also feel that neurocritical care units staffed by well trained neurointensivists offer the best care to patients with neurological illness.
