Pediatric Stroke
About 4,000 children in the United States have a stroke every year. They need the expertise of specialists as well as advanced diagnostic and treatment approaches. The UCSF Pediatric Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease Center is the only center in the country offering comprehensive care by the world's leading experts in pediatric stroke and cerebrovascular disease.
To make your first appointment at the Center:
Please ask your child's pediatrician or specialist to fax the following information to 415-353-2400:
- Written referral, describing your child's condition
- Your name, address and phone number, and your child's name
- Related medical records and test results
- Insurance information, including an "authorization" for the appointment if your insurance company requires it
After the information is submitted, please call 415-353-3682 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday to request an appointment.
Please ask your doctor to indicate if your child's condition is urgent and your request will be reviewed immediately. Otherwise, it typically takes two weeks to schedule an appointment.
Clinic hours are 9 a.m. to noon on Friday.
